The Cross

The Purpose of the Cross

Matthew 27:35a- Then they crucified Him.  In the time of Jesus, crucifixion was the cruelest way of death.  You would be beaten, forced to carry your cross(these were very heavy crosses) up a hill, and then nailed, through each wrist and one through both ankles, onto the cross, before being jolted into the ground.  You would then have to push up on the nail that held your feet to take a breath, so you would eventually suffocate.  This is what we did to Christ, the Son of God, who had never sinned.  The most excruciating part of this was that, in dying, Jesus took the sins of every person that had been, was, or would be upon himself.

Mark 8:34a- "Whoever desires to come after Me, let him take up his cross, and follow me."  This is Christ speaking.  although this is said before He is crucified, this is symbolic of what is to come.  Jesus is saying, if you want to follow me, die to yourself like I died. Then, you can be with me.  This does not mean Christ wants you to commit suicide, but to make Christ the No. 1 Thing in your life.

Although this is a game website, not an evangelistic one, I hope this website can glorify God.
